Cassie is a high profile American hip-hop, R&B, and pop singer along with being a notable model and even an actress. Cassie was born on August 26, 1986 and given the name Casandra Ventura. Not only is she in the lime light for her successful endeavors but she is trilingual as well speaking Tagalog, Spanish, and English fluently.
Cassie was born in New London, Connecticut to interracial parents with her father being a Filipino and her mother an African American/Mexican/West Indian.
Her career to stardom began at the age of 14 as a model appearing in such advertisements as Adidas, Abercrombie & Fitch, Delia’s, and Seventeen. After completing high school in 2004, she told her parents that she wanted to go after a career in modeling and music instead of going to college.
Cassie moved to New York where she worked for Abercrombie & Fitch Wilhelmina Models, took classes as Broadway Dance Center until she meet Ryan Leslie. At this time, she wrote a duet with Ryan called “Kiss Meâ€. Cassie signed with Ryan Leslie’s Next Selection a short while after this release. Ryan then wrote and produced Cassie’s first single “Me & U†in 2005. Diddy and Bad Boy Records became very interested in this talented young lady by March of 2006.
“Me & U†was a huge success especially in the United States where it reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, number four on the Billboard Pop 100, and all the way to number one on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hog Songs chart. The follow single by the name of “Long Way 2 Go†did not do as well only reaching 97 on the Billboard Hot 100. On the other hand, the album sold 300,000 copies in the United States alone.
Cassie’s second album was due to release in September of 2007. She is still signed with Bad Boy Records and will be working along side Kanye West and Pharell Williams on this album.
