Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone Ritchie was born August 16, 1958 and we all know her as Madonna. Madonna is a Grammy award winning singer-songwriter, record and film producer, dancer, actress, author, and a fashion icon.
Madonna is in the Guinness Book of World records for the most successful female recording artist of all times and her worldwide sales are over 120 million in 2005 but her record company said she has over 200 million. She is also has the highest earnings with a net worth of 325 million! She also has the record for the top-grossing concert tour of all times by a female. Considering when she came to New York in 1978, to begin her dance career she only had $35 in her pocket, she has been a tremendous success.
She, like ever other starving artist, had small little jobs and she was no different. She even worked at Dunkin Donuts! She also did nude modeling for a while and later she performed with a few dance companies. While doing this she met Dan Gilroy, they became a couple, and started her first rock band called the Breakfast Club. Later she formed the band Emmy in 1980. This is where record producer Mark Kamins was very impressed by her demos and brought them to the attention of Sire Records.
The rest is history, as you all know. She made even more history in 2006 when she went to Malawi to build an orphanage, which she paid for, and while there she adopted a baby boy named, David. As she continues her work in Malawi, she is returning after her tour to build a health care center.
In November 2007, she is releasing a box set containing three CD's and two DVD's marking her 25th anniversary. Madonna will be on American Idol-Idol Gives back and in July, she will be performing at Al Gore's Live earth concert at Wembley stadium, which will be one of seven shows on 07-07-07!
Her clothing line is releasing another line called M by Madonna. It will debut in H&M Stores. This line of clothes represents Madonna's sense of style and modern elegance.
