notorious big

On May 21, 1972, Christopher George Latore Wallace was born in Brooklyn, New York. He was known as Biggie Smalls, Big Poppa, Frank White, and his main name that most people use to recognize him was The Notorious B.I.G. (Business Instead of game). He emerged into a well-known rap artist.

Growing up in the crack era in the 80's he soon started dealing drugs. He made his first album in 1994 called, "Ready To Die'. He was a main figure in the hip-hop community.

Biggie was very big in the East Coast-West Coast hip-hop feud and was gunned down in a drive by shooting in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997. Fifteen days later his album, "Life After death' was released and hit #1 in record time. It went to certified Diamond in 2000. He had this ingenious talent at storytelling and this made him one of the best rappers around.

His life consisted of struggles with drugs and the law. He served time like many of the other rappers. Something was always getting in his way. His music never suffered even through the bad times. One of the best times in his life was when he married Faith Evans on August 4, 1994 and they had only known each other 10 days. October 29, 1996 she gave birth to his first son, Christopher C.J. Wallace Jr.

The tragic night started with Biggie traveling to California to promote his upcoming album, "Life after death'. He was a presenter at the 11th Annual Soul train music Awards and then after the show he attended an after party hosted by Vibe. He left around 12:30 am with his crew at 12:45 am; they stopped for a red light when a white Toyota land cruiser cut in between them. The Blazer behind them, a black Chevy Impala pulled along side, and a man dressed in a blue suit wearing a bow tie started to shoot, four bullets hit Biggie in the chest. They rushed him to Cedars Sinai medical center where he was pronounced dead at 1:15 am. His killer is still at large, but his family had a lawsuit against the police saying they had evidence of the murderer beforehand and never arrested him.

Biggie started to produce a clothing line before his death, but he never had the chance to launch the design, so after his death his friends got together and launched it for him. Proceeds got to the Christopher Wallace foundation. His legacy lives on.
