Lumidee Cedeno was born in August 24, 1984 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Lumidee is a Puerto Rican rapper and singer. Their grandparents raised Lumidee, her four brothers, and sisters after the death of their parents.

When she was 12, she started to sing however at the age of 14 doctors diagnosed her with rheumatoid arthritis. The doctors first said she had Lupus and gave her all the wrong medicines. Therefore, by the time they learned that it was rheumatoid arthritis her condition had worsened. The arthritis was eating away at her cartilage between her bones and she could hardly move her hands. At this time, her doctors stated that within a year she would no longer be able to walk. Because of her illness she was home-schooled unable to walk around the school.

She said her illness was a blessing in a way because it made her become serious and begin to write since she had so much time. She has been blessed with getting the right treatment and now has somewhat overcoming the health problems. She was able to return to school for her senior year. In 2002, she had a hip replacement, which enabled her to be able to dance and perform for her many fans.

After graduation, she met with producer Bob Levy with the desire to record her first single called "Never Leave You". The recording was for an independent label but she later went to Universal records in which she released her debut album "Almost Famous". This album sold over 200,000 copies. Lumidee is preparing to release her next album in 2007.

She parted with her first record label, went overseas, and had great success with the fans there with "Dance" the second single off her FIFA World Cup 2006 compilation album, which was #5 in Germany and #2 in Holland. Lumidee is back in the United states now and says her "fans should find her satisfyingly Unexpected."
