josh turner

Born in Hannah, South Carolina on November 20, 1977, Josh Otis Turner is now a famous country star! His deep baritone voice made him a wonderful candidate for his church choir as a bass singer. He sang in the church choir and after graduating high school, he went to college where he took voice lessons. During 1996, a lesion was discovered on his right vocal cord. It did not require surgery; however, he had to take a break to rest his voice for one year. During this year off, he took measures to care for his voice and to educate himself on the ways to prevent problems in the future.

Taking a year off he then moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University and this is where he met his wife Jennifer. They were married in 1993. She now does back up for him in his band. They have one son, Hampton Otis Turner born on October 6, 2006.

Earlier he debuted on the Grand Ole Opry in December 21, 2001 where he sang “The Long Black Train” a song he that he wrote. This spent 40 weeks on the charts. His second single, “What It Aint”, did not do as well, only reaching #31.

Josh released his second album titled, “Your Man” in early 2006. The single from it, “Your Man” was released in 2005 and reached number one. Then he released the second single, “Would You Go With Me” and this one stayed at the top for two weeks. This has been claimed to be his biggest hit of his career. He performed it on the CMA Awards in 2006. This made it shoot right back up and it hit #48 on the Hot 100.

He has received Best male Country Vocal Performance and Best Album at the Grammy Awards. He is already working on his third album to be released in October of 2007. Among Josh’s musical achievements, he also has done charity work as well. He started a foundation that helps promote music in schools around the country.
