sean kingston

Sean Kingston was born on February 3, 1990 in Kingston, Jamaica. His last name is not Kingston, but goes by that to show love for where he was born. This 17-year-old talent has the mix of reggae, rap, and pop in his music. His uncle is the famous reggae legend Buju Banton.

J.R. Rotem has produced many hits for some famous celebrities including 50 Cent, Rhinna, and Snoop Dogg, but now he is turning all his attention on a young talent named Sean Kingston. He has signed him to Beluga records.

He started one hit, when he listened to it, which was about a girl telling you it is over. That just makes a guy suicidal when they say it is over. He asked JR if anyone has flipped that and he laid down the beat right then and there for him. He wrote the song in a few minutes and now it is a huge hit. He said he knows everyone can relate to it because it has happened to them.

"Drummer Boy" is mainly a rapping song with a lot of drums. Then the song "Prosecutor" is about the wrongful imprisonment of his sister and mother. It was a sign for him to write it when he saw his mother and sister incarcerated when he was 14. He had his other brother and a sister, but when his mom and sister were taken away from him, he was totally crushed. There is nothing fake about this song; it is all from his soul.

Sean Kingston writes 100% of the lyrics himself. He does not even have a song writer at all. He said it gives him such a feeling of freedom when he writes them himself. Not many kids his age get the chance to prove this and he said he has done it because he knows what its like to get to where he has gotten without any help from anyone. That is why he thinks his music is better because it comes from one person and not several that all have different ideas.

Rotem is not only his producer, but he is more like a brother to Sean. Rotem said he can remember getting emails from him sometimes 3 to 4 times a day. He said he knew he had to write back to someone who was so aggressive about getting in touch with him. That was one of the best decisions of his life as well.

In July of 2007, Sean released his self-titled debut album "Sean Kingston". His first single off the album is becoming a big hit on the radio and it is called "Beautiful Girls". His music is not the same sound you would hear from other rappers. His sound sets him apart from other rappers and shows a new kind of sound. Sean also has two other singles called "Real Gangstas" and "Colors 2007", which features The Game and Rick Ross. The album also has artists featured on the album such as Paula DeAnda.
