Catherine Britt was born in New castle, New South Wales, Australia on December 31, 1984. When she speaks, you know where she comes from with that beautiful accent, but then listen to her sing. She will blow you away. She has always loved singing and her brothers always joke saying she never shuts up. She loved singing even as a child, but the passion to become a singer did not hit her until she was about nine years old. She heard Dolly Parton sing and this time it went into her head not through it, she said. That is when she decided she wanted to be just like Dolly Parton. She listened to other singers but fell in love with Hank Williams and that is her all time favorite.
She started to write her own songs because that is what Hank did. She didn't know what cheating and drinking and all the things about a country music song were about because she never lived them but they came out in her writing so if it must have been fate.
Eventually, she started singing with Bill Chambers and this kept up until she was 14, then she made her first album. It went to top of the charts, but no one took her serious though because of her age. She went on singing and performing her little heart out and then two years later after she had several thousand miles under her belt they re-released her first CD. This CD has made a string of hit singles that have kept her on the radio from that release until today.
She is so obsessed with music, just listening to it and reading about it that she was surprised one day when her manager called and asked her if she had been watching the television and she said no. Well, to her surprise Elton john has been mentioning her name all over TV in his interviews. Come to find out he got a copy of her CD and loved it. Catherine accepted Sir John's invitation and went to Sydney for Elton's final show. They met and he asked if she had contacts in America and she told him no. Elton told her he would help her with the contacts she needed.
She is now signed with RCA and traveling from Australia to Nashville. Her thanks go out to Sir Elton John.
