Model, entertainer, and singer, Tila Tequila was born on October 24, 1981 in Singapore to a family of Vietnamese emigrants that eventually moved to Houston, Texas. Although she was named Tila Nguyen, her fans call her "T", "T Bird", "Tila T Gurl" but her stage name Tila Tequila is the most commonly accepted.
Tila decided to live life the way she wants so after moving to the United States, she adopted a tomboy attitude getting involved in many fights during her middle school days that led her to a boarding school for six months. Tila's rebel attitude did not stop in high school and soon she joined a gang, experimented with drugs, and secretly entered nightclubs.
Raised in a Buddhist temple, Tila Tequila explained in an interview that she spent her school days searching her own identity after felling confused of her racial origin confused whether she was Black, Hispanic, or Asian. Then, Tila found a pathway to follow after Playboy Magazine's scout discovered her at the U.S. Route 59's Sharps town Mall.
At age 18 Tila moved to southern California and began a modeling career posing nude for Playboy, but eventually becoming the cover of many other magazines that named her Playboy’s Cyber Girl of the week (2002), Asian Cyber Girl of the Month (2003), and Rolling Stone's Hot Issue (2006).
Tila was listed in Maxim's Hot 100 list for 2006 and she has been featured in the Stuff Magazine. Defined as a versatile artist, Tila Tequila also performs as one of the "Street Racing" video games characters and manages the Feisty Felines model group along with a number of web sites, including trendy fashion and business ventures.
As singer, her popularity began to rise at age 20 after assembling the Beyond Betty Jean band, then joining the Jealousy band. As singer and songwriter, MySpace web site has been her launching platform, but her musical works have been featured at Interscope, iTunes, MTV, and some TV shows.
In 2007, Tila Tequila released her first solo single entitled "I Love U". This song was released through iTunes achieving such success that Tila is now working on her full-length debut album.
