Olivia Newton-John was born in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England on September 26, 1948. She was born to Brinley Newton-John and Irene. Her father was an M15 officer that worked with on the Enigma machine project at Bletchley Park and the officer that placed Rudolf Hess into custory when he parachuted into Scotland in 1941. Her mother was the oldest child of Max Born who was a Lutheran German Nobel prize winner that left Germany in the 1930’s to protect his family from persecution since his wife had a part Jewish heritage.

When Olivia was five years old, her family moved to Melbourne, Austraila when her father received a postion as the dean of college in Melbourne. By the age of 15, Olivia had formed an all girl band by the name of Sol Four and before long they were seen on local televsion and heard on various radio shows thorughout Australia.

In 1965, Olivia entered a talent contest hosted by Johnny O’Keefe on the TV show, “Sing, Sing, Sing”, in which she won and was given a trip to London, England. By 1966, Olivia cut her first record with Decca Records which was a version of “Till You Say You’ll Be Mine” by Jackie DeShannon. In 1971, she recorded a cover “If Not For You”, of Bob Dylan’s which was co-produced by John Farrar.

Finally, in 1973, Olivia hit the big time with her single “Let Me Be There”, which was on her debut album and ranked in the top ten. From this moment forward, Olivia’s career zoomed. She has won many awards including Most Promising Female Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music, a Grammy Award as Best Country Vocalist, several other Grammy’s, many Country Music Awards, Peoples Choice Awards, American Music Awards, along with five number 1 hits which include “Physical”.

Not only is Olivia Newton-John known for musical talents but she has also appeared in films such as “Grease”, “Xanadu” and was bestowed an Order Of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth in 1979. Olivia serves as the Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations Environment Program among other humanitarian associations such as the National Spokesperson for the last years for the Colette Chuda Environmental Fund/Children’s Health Environ-mental Coalition.
