MercyMe is an American Contemporary Christian band that comes to their fans from Greenville, Texas. They joined together as a group in 1994 and are still hitting the charts. They have won a Grammy Award and a Dove Award. The members of the band include Bart Millard, Nathan Cochran, Michael John Scheuchzer, Robin Shaffer, James Bryson, and Barry Graul. Bart, James, and Mike started the band. On a missions project overseas is when Bart and James met. The two members brought the band back to Oklahoma City and that is where they added Michael because Bart already knew him. They had a pretty steady fan base there as they were opening for bands like Audio Adrenaline. They decided to move to Nashville, Tennessee and then carried themselves back to Bart’s hometown of Texas. Soon after, they added Nathan and Robby to the band.

The band went on to sign with INO Records back in 2001. They released their first album “Almost There” which placed in the mainstream of music when they released their smash hit single “I Can Only Imagine”. Their first album sold over 2 million copies within three years of released. The album did so well they received an American Music Award nomination.

In 2002, the band went on to release their second album “Spoken For”. This album gave the band two more top 10 hits. This along with their first album gave them a nomination for another American Music Award for Favorite Contemporary Inspirational Artist.

In 2004, the band released “Undone” which gave them yet another two top ten hits. The first one was “Here with me” and the second one was “In the Blink of an Eye”. The album also had another song called “Homesick” which was played on Christian radio stations and other mainstream stations. The song was written for family members the group had lost during the year.

In 2006, the album “Coming up To Breathe” was released. This album was mainly a personal album and the group was not worried if the album did as well as other albums in the past.

November of 2007 MercyMe is expected to release their newest album “All That Is Within Me”. They started touring in September of 2007, which features other bands such as Shane & Shane, Monk and Neagle, and Aaron Shust.
