MC Magic is the stage name of an Arizonan-based rapper who was born Marcus Cardenas in Nogales, Mexico, but was raised in Phoenix in the American Southwest tradition, the fact that along with his Mexican family background helped him to create a unique Latino hip-hop ballad style.
In 1990, MC Magic began a career in music establishing his own records company Nastyboy Records to showcase his talent releasing his own albums. Marcus work features English and Spanish singing and rapping flavored with Rhythm & Blues, sometimes accomplished with a vocoder talk box that he received from the family of one of his early idols, Roger Troutman, the lead singer of the band Zapp.
Nastyboy Records released in 1995 the full-length MC Magic's debut album, "Don't Worry", recruiting new musicians to integrate his own band the Nastyboy Klick.
Nastyboy Klick peaked at number one on the regional hit charts. Mc's ability as producer, was recognized when the song "Down for Yours" featuring Roger Troutman, hit number ten on Billboard Top Rap singles in 1997, taking MC Magic to the front page of The Arizona Republic, a Phoenix newspaper.
Press exposure brought nationwide attention and he began to receive calls asking for Nastyboy Klick touring across the country. Suddenly MC Magic was ahead in popularity more than many other Phoenix-based artists of the late 1990’s.
After the turn of the century, MC Magic reinvented his band that after being trimmed down to a trio was renamed NB Ridaz and released an album entitled "Invasion" in 2001, from which the single "Runaway" hit the Billboard Hot 100 and Rhythmic Top 40 charts.
Urged to release his second solo album, MC Magic released "Magic City" in August 2006, peaking at number 3 on the Billboard 200, and number one on the R&B and Rap charts, producing the singles "Sexy Lady", "Lies" and "All My Life".
In February 2007, MC Magic re-released his first album "Don't Worry" peaking this time at number 3 on Billboard 200, and repeating as number one on the R&B and Rap charts, producing 4 hit songs, "Lost In Love", "Don't Worry", "Summertime†and "Excited".
