American alternative rock band 3 Doors Down started their band in 1994 in Escatawpa, Mississippi. The band consists of Brad Arnold (vocalist and drummer), Matt Roberts (guitarist), and Todd Harrell (bassist). Brad played the drums when recording in the studio for their album "The Better Life". He enjoyed the singing part so much he started to do it full time with the band.
In 1997, they released their self-titled album "3Doors Down". This album was the one they mainly did as their demo CD that they would sold at their gigs. They started to become more popular and the local radio station started getting many requests to play their music. After being heard, they got a record deal with Republic records, which is a branch off Universal Records. Some of the songs off the album were released as singles such as "Kryptonite" and "Loser".
In 2000, they released their album "The Better Life" which has gone 6 times platinum and made it to number 7 on the charts. The songs from the album were also tracks on their demo CD and this is where they were released as singles.
In 2002, the band released another album entitled "Away from the Sun". This album has gone 4 times platinum and reached number 8 on the charts. Singles from the album include the ever so popular "When I'm Gone", "Here Without You" and "Away from the Sun."
In 2005, the band released their album "Seventeen Days". This album features a few acoustic versions of songs as well. The reason for the title of the album is that the band wrote these songs in seventeen days. This album has only gone platinum so far, but it hit number 1 on the charts.
In 2003, the band released a live album titled "Another 700 Miles'. This album has gone gold and but only made it to number 21 on the charts in the US. The band has also released DVD's. The first one is called "3 Doors Down: One Red Light" which was released in 2004. The other DVD is called "3 Doors Down: Live in Houston, Texas" and this DVD was released in 2005.
