In 2001, Jayceon was shot five times in a failed drug transaction. He received bullet wounds to both arms, a leg, stomach, and heart. He remained in a coma for three days and then had to stay hospitalized for a long time recovering from the wounds. During this time, Jayceon decided to pursue a music career.
Finally, back on his feet, Big Fase helped Jayceon and they founded The Black Wall Street Records. The stage name The Game was chosen since Jayceon’s grandmother always called him that because she said he was always game for anything.
