mayday parade

Alternative rock band Mayday Parade was formed in 2005 in Tallahassee, Florida consisting of Derek Sanders (vocals), Jeremy Lenzo (bass & vocals), Alex Garcia (guitar), Brooks Betts (guitar), and Jake Bundrick (drums & vocals), in addition to former member Jason Lancaster (guitar & vocals) that eventually left the band.

Mayday Parade is the result of merging together Defining Moment and Kid Named Chicago bands in which their members were playing separately until they joined forces to produce a melodic rock.

Mayday Parade began to receive some exposure when they were invited to play some dates at the Warped Tour 2005, in addition to random live performances opening for Emery, the Rocket Summer, the Starting Line, and Armor for Sleep.

In August 2006, the band was signed to Fearless Records and shortly after they recorded their first EP entitled "Tales Told By Dead Friends" sold over 20,000 copies any support campaign. This EP includes six tracks and until today has sold over 10,000 copies alone.

"When I Get Home, You're So Dead", one of the tracks of "Tales Told By Dead Friends" also began to receive increasing airtime through local radio stations.

It was not until July of 2007 that Mayday Parade released their debut album "A Lesson in Romantics" produced by Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount. This album includes "When I Get Home, You're So Dead", "If You Wanted a Song Written About You, All You Had to Do Was Ask" and "You Be the Anchor That Keeps My Feet on the Ground, I'll Be the Wings That Keep Your Heart in the Clouds."

Other cuts are available at Mayday Parade's MySpace site, including "Black Cat", "Miserable At Best" and "Jamie All Over", while the song "Jersey" is part of AOL radio's playing list. Even though, as of June 30, the entire "A Lesson in Romantics" was leaked.

During July, one of the band's dates at the Warped Tour was cancelled, and Mayday Parade played secretly at Spring, Texas's Java Jazz and then Mayday Parade released the video for "When I Get Home, You're So Dead", shot in Los Angeles, California during late September.
