slightly stoopid

Californian rock band Slightly Stoopid was formed in 1995 in Ocean Beach by Miles Doughty (guitar, bass & vocals), Kyle McDonald (guitar, bass & vocals), DeLa (saxophone), C-Money (trumpet, keyboard), Oguer "OG" Ocon (congas, percussion, harp & vocals), and Ryan "RyMo" Moran (drums).

Slightly Stoopid's music is often mentioned as influenced by musicians such as Bob Marley, Sublime, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Long Beach Dub Allstars, and G. Love & Special Sauce; the band defined their own music as "a fusion of acoustic rock and blues with reggae, hip-hop, and punk".

Even though, Slightly Stoopid began performing a former duo consisting of Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald while they were still attending high school, the time in which the predominant style of their music included trash elements.

The best way to appreciate exactly what Slightly Stoopid plays is by listening to their albums; "Slightly Stoopid" (1996), "Longest Barrel Ride" (1998) "Everything You Need" (2003), "Acoustic Roots: Live and Direct" (2004), "Closer to the Sun" (2005), "Slightly Not Stoned Enough To Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid " (EP-2005), "Winter Tour '05-'06 Live" (2006) and their most recent production, "Chronchitis" (2007)

Winter Tour '05-'06 Live is a CD/DVD album recorded on November 26 and 25, 2005 in San Diego, California in which Slightly Stoopid mixes rock, punk, reggae, ska, and hip-hop music.

On the other hand, "Chronchitis", which was produced by Mario C, Paul Leary, Miguel, and Chris D. on Megaforce/Stoopid Records/Controlled Substance Sound Labs, has just been released on August 7, 2007 and with the same musical array of genres is a total different concept.

This album features musicians such as Angelo Moore of Fishbone, Money Mark, G Love, Toko Tasi, and Guru of Gangstar. "Chronchitis" peaked at number 55 on the Billboard 200 top album charts, selling over 12,000 copies in its first week after being released.

As of today, Slightly Stoopid after announcing their autumn tour through their official website, are currently on the road, promising to amaze all those fans that missed out on the madness of the band's "The Summer Haze" Tour a few months ago. Like most of the bands nowadays, Slightly Stoopid updates regularly their news, blogs, and tour information on their web site.
