Australian metalcore band Parkway Drive was formed in Byron Bay, New South Wales during the summer of 2003 taking their name from a rural Australian countryside road, with a former lineup consisting of Winston McCall, Jia O'Connor, Luke Kilpatrick, Ben Gordon, and Jeff Ling.

After doing some touring on the road by playing small gigs and releasing the EP "Don't Close Your Eyes", Parkway Drive's debut album "Killing with a Smile" was released in May 2005. A couple of tracks from this album were chosen as sound clips for Bruce Willis "Die Hard 2" and Johnny Depp "Mutiny" films.

Throughout that year the band Parkway Drive were included as support acts for Chimaira, In Flames, As I Lay Dying, Hatebreed, Alexisonfire, Shadows Fall, and Bleeding Through, and closed the year out with the performance at Australia's Hardcore 2005 and Metal for the Brain 2005.

In 2006, Parkway Drive signed to Epitaph Records label, which released their debut album in the United States. New lineup changes occurred before the band went on their International tour in the UK and other European countries, followed by a tour in the United States and back home in Australia by the end of the year.

Parkway Drive attended the SoundWave Festival in Sydney, Australia as well as some of the musicians playing at the Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour, alongside other great Australian bands such as Underoath, Saosin, Anti-Flag, Thursday, Taking Back Sunday, and Senses Fail

Parkway Drive ended the year performing at the Sound Fest, the Resist Records' tour, the Homebake Festival, Gravity G Festival and the Soundwave Festival before returning to Europe.

In 2007, they attended the SoundWave Festival in Sydney, Australia and played a new song at Underworld in Camden. Parkway Drive's international tour also touched Japan and the American Warped Tour 2007, being the only Australian band on stage.

Parkway Drive returned to the studio to record their new album "Horizons", produced by Adam Dutkiewicz and released on Epitaph Records on October 6, 2007. During the summer, some of the songs of this album were leaked through MySpace, but today the entire album is available there regardless of all efforts to stop the situation.
