Representing a new generation in R&B, Jagged Edge is an American vocal band formed in 1997 in Atlanta, Georgia by Brian "Brasco" Casey and Brandon "Case Dinero" Casey, originally from Hartford, Connecticut. These identical twin brothers joined Kyle "Quick" Norman and Richard Wingo "Dollar" after they met through their common church activities.
Jagged Edge debuted in the summer of 1997 with the release of a single, "The Way that you Talk", after the quartet was signed to Columbia Records under the So So Def label. This cut hit number 65 of the Billboard pop chart and number 34 on the R&B chart and included guest appearances of fellow musicians Da Brat and Jermaine Dupri.
In 1998, Jagged Edge breakthrough into mainstream came with their debut album "A Jagged Era" that went gold and hit the Billboard's 200 best albums, while the single "I Gotta Be" hit number 23 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and number 11 on the R&B chart.
From them on, Jagged Edge was continuously featured on the charts. The band has received numerous nominations from the American Music Awards, BET Awards, Grammy Awards, and Soul Train Awards. They also won the 2001 Best R&B/Soul Album by a Band for their second album "J.E. Heartbreak" (2000) and the 2001 Best R&B/Soul Single by a Band for the single cut of the album "Let's Get Married".
With over 2,000,000 copies sold worldwide, " J.E. Heartbreak" was certified as 2x Platinum. In 2001, the band's third release, "Jagged Little Thrill" achieved a Platinum certification and was number 3 in the American charts.
Certified Gold came for the sale of the albums "Hard" (2003) and "Jagged Edge" (2006), but the release of the compilation of "The Hits†in November 2006 consolidated Jagged Edge’s with the addition of a few new songs and a bonus track.
As of 2007, the band began the transition from Columbia Records to Island Def Jam, a records label in which Jermaine Dupri is now the urban division's president, granting Jagged Edge their own record label, 581 Music, credited on the releasing of their upcoming 2007's "Baby Makin' Project" album.
