The Pack is a rap band formed in 2005 in Berkeley, California when fellow friends Keith "Stunna" Jenkins, Brandon "Lil B" McCartney, Lloyd "Young L" Omadhebo, and DaMonte "Uno" Johnson were skateboarding and hip-hoping while attending high school.
Together The Pack began their career making mixtapes and street performances, usually adopting the alternate name as Wolfpack until they fully adopted the actual band's name after finding that Wolfpack was a name widely used by many companies.
During this time, the San Francisco's bay area witnessed the raise of the hyphy movement and The Pack took this opportunity to release a street-level mixtape entitled "Wolfpack Muzik, Vol. 1" that, after attracting some expectations, motivated the guys to release another mixtape, "Wolfpack Muzik, Vol. 2".
The band’s breakthrough into the mainstream came when legendary rapper Too Short discovered the guys after listening to one of their singles, "Vans", continuously aired through the West Coast radio, hitting number 23 on the Top 30 hip-hop charts.
Too Short signed The Pack to his own record label, Up All Nite Records, and released their seven-song debut album, "Skateboards 2 Scrapers", in 2006. Meanwhile, "Vans" was played across 35 pop stations and 65 hip-hop stations nationwide, achieving Rolling Stone's recognition as "Best songs of 2006".
The Pack's "Vans" video was also aired on BET before MTV, which refused at first instance due to advertisement reasons. However, an edited version was released by MTV creating great controversy for the censoring of the word "vans".
MTV revindicate their position after airing The Pack's second single "I'm Shinin' ", a song that became one of the biggest hits on MTV’s Elite 8 and MTV Jams.
A new album, "Based Boys" has just been released in 2007, and the band was recently named number three top unsigned hyphy artists on MySpace chart.
The Pack's Brandon "Lil B" McCartney, Lloyd "Young L" are also members of The Stars & Stripes family, usually referred as to the "S.S.". This group encompasses diverse Californian musicians including GaTa and Tyga of GED Inc., Young and Scott O.T. of Young Squad, Lil Go, and TK of Pharrell's Ice Cream Skate Team.
