Interpol was formed in 1998 and hail from New York. The members are Daniel Kessler, Carlos Dengler, and Sam Fogarino. Most people including their fans consider their sound to be American Indie. All members of the band attended the New York University.
They released several EPs between 1998 to 2001 but it was not until 2002 when they signed to Indie Label, Matador. During the bands time with Matador they released their self-titled album.
They went on to release, “Bright Lights†in August of 2002 and has been considered one of the best albums of the year. They received more coverage by appearing on the David Letterman show and last call with Carson Daly.
In September of 2004, they released “Anticsâ€. This album was a bigger commercial success then “Turn on the Bright Lights†was. This album put them on the map so to speak, as their popularity grew and they began playing bigger venues than they had previously. The band went on to play with U2 and The Cure, which was a huge success. After this radio, stations everywhere were asking them to be on various shows.
Their Antics tour stretched out over almost 18 months and after that, they took almost a year off from exhaustion. They were back in the studio by March of 2006 working on their next album. The band went on tour to Europe, Canada, and the United States playing small venues and experimenting with their new music. The crowds loved the new sound and reviews went crazy. They were keeping their album under wraps and rumor had it that it was to be released on July 10, 2007. On their internet message board, they confirmed the name of the album to be “Our Love to Admireâ€. The information concerning the album was leaked to the public, but they did manage to keep it quiet until June 21. This album once released hit an impressive #4 debut on the Billboard Top 2007.
They will tour and promote the album with the summer festival and then go to Europe and the United states. In August, they will be at the Lollapalooza Music festival in Chicago. Our Love to Admire was released in the UK on July 9 on Parlophone, and on July 10 in the United States on Capitol Records.
