danity kane

Danity Kane is the result of one of the many reality shows aired on American TV. Formed through Making the Band, third edition, this quintet is the best example that dreams really do come true.

Shannon Bex, Aubrey O'Day, Aundrea Fimbres, Dawn Richard, and Wanita "D. Woods" Woodgette put together Danity Kane after beating hundred of contenders. CEO Diddy after seeing the girls dancing and singing through two seasons of ‘Making the Band’ series signed the band to Bad Boy Records.

Diddy is also responsible for the band's name and the subsequent releasing of their debut album in August 2006, self-titled "Danity Kane" that went to number one on Billboard’s Chart, and number two on the U.S. R&B chart, selling over 1,200,00 and receiving the Platinum RIAA Certification by November 2006.

Danity Kane was named after a female anime superhero called Dawn that Diddy recreated during studio downtime. Their first singe, "Show Stopper", features guest singer Yung Yoc which convinced critics who might question the quality of the band's production after the song hit number 17 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and was positioned among the top 30 in Lithuania and Germany.

During 2007, Danity Kane was nominated and won the Urban Music Award for the best female group and received two nominations as "Best 2007 Ringtone for "Show Stopper" by Poptastic Award, and "Best R&B Album, Group, Band or Duo" by Soul Train Music.

Early this year the band performed the opening act for Christina Aguilera's Back To Basics Tour and played along with The Pussycat Dolls. Although, Danity Kane has been working hard on their second album it is more likely not to be released until 2008.

Meanwhile, MTV is considering the possibility to ask Danity Kane to participate in the fourth season of the "Making the Band" series, ignoring the rumors concerning a possible split up after the girls worked alongside the Pussycat Dolls and Wanita Woodgette's association with another band.

Rumors on popular websites are that the band is still together, stronger than ever, and working on their upcoming album. We can probably trust the rumors as true facts and hope to see them once again on “Making the Band”.
