Lil Wayne was born as Dwayne Michael Carter Jr in New Orleans, Louisiana. Lil Wayne is the president of the New Orleans label called Cash Money Records. He is also the CEO of Young Money Entertainment.
Lil Wayne released his first album in 1999 entitled "Tha Block Is Hot" which went 2 times platinum selling over 2 million copies. He then released his album "Lights Out" in 2000 that went platinum. He then released "500 Degreez" that didn't do as well as the other 2 albums only selling a little less than 1 million copies. The next album he released in 2004, called "Tha Carter" did even worse by only selling 850,000 copies. Lil Wayne came back with a bang with his album in 2005 entitled "Tha Carter II" which sold 1.4 million copies. His latest album to be released in 2007 entitled "Tha Carter III" is bound to make a good splash. He has already released his first single from his latest album called "La La".
Lil Wayne has also done collaboration albums with Birdman, Juelz Santana and Cash Money. He has also released many mix tape albums, including live albums as well. He enjoyed working with many different artists on his album and also on their albums including Juvenile, Baby, Mack 10, TQ, Mannie Fresh, Jazze Pha, Robin Thicke, Birdman, Rick Ross, and T-pain, just to name a few. He has also worked with many more artists. Lil Wayne is one of today's best rappers and is bound to bring more music and more artists to the hip hop world.
