The Almost is a band from Tampa Bay, Florida. They are an Alternative Rock band mainly known for being a side project for Aaron Gillespie of Underoath. The members of the band include Aaron Gillespie, Jay Vilardi, Dusty Redmon, Alex Aponte, and Kenny Bozich. The band is under the labels Tooth and Nail Records and Virgin Records.
On April 3, 2007, the group released their debut album called “Southern Weatherâ€. The album in its first week sold 29,000 copies and as of July 11, 2007, they have sold 123,972 copies in the US alone. They released their first single “Say This Soonerâ€. The song hit number 7 on the Modern Rock charts and hit number 35 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks. Their newest released of a single is “Southern Weatherâ€. It is not said however how the song is doing on the charts due to the fact it has just been released.
Aaron worked with Nick Demeas from Chicago who is 17 years old and with Kenny Vasoli on a song for the album “Happy Christmas: Volume 4†with the song “Yule Be Sorryâ€. The album was in stores on October 25 of 2005. You may have seen The Almost playing on the Warped Tour in 2007.
Not only does Aaron still work with his band Underoath but he also wrote all the songs for The Almost while he was recording songs with his band Underoath. It is not for sure, when the band formally started. All that is known is that Aaron started a MySpace page for the band on October 1 of 2005 and then on October 4 of 2005 at midnight he released two demo songs from the band. The songs were called "I Mostly Like To Copy Other People" and "They Say You Can Never Write I Told You So In A Song So Here I Go".
The band The Almost has just started, but from the looks of it, they are looking to be a great band to hit the top. We just have to wait and see how far Aaron is taking the group and how far they will go from here.
