Chris Dooley Jr. was born in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1989. He is better known as Hurricane or Hurricane Chris. This young rapper is hitting it hard down south in clubs. His single "A Bay Bay" is being played in clubs and now it is finally hitting other people around the United States as well.
Hurricane Chris will be releasing his very first album in 2007. His album is titled "51/50" and his first single off the album is the very popular song "A Bay Bay". The song title was created in a club when he heard people saying Hey Baby Baby. It became very catchy to him and he used it as one of his songs. So far, the new single has made it to number 5 on the Hot Rap Chart.
In May 2007, David Claessen filmed Chris Dooley for a video shoot for the song "A Bay Bay" in Cedar Grove. The song has gained major popularity for the rapper. Chris has introduced ratchet music to Shreveport and the rest of the world. What is it you ask? Ratchet is a good thing he said. It can mean a good thing or a bad thing. If they are in a club and they say we were ratchet then it means they are having a good time. A not so good thing would be like wearing the same socks for five weeks or drinking out of a pickle jar. That's the ratchet too.
While filming there were hundreds of fans standing around watching and they all had on tee shirts that said "A Bay Bay" in big black letters. They were all standing by the Cedar Grove gas station and were amazed that one of their own was going to put their town on the map. The video will show many different scenes from the town where Chris grew up. It will also include scenes from the popular club Kokopelli's. They chose hot spots where a lot of people hang out. This is going to be big deal for Shreveport.
He is currently on tour and he said you can expect a mix tape and another album to be coming out after he is done, but no date has been set as of this writing. He is living the dream that many young rappers and entertainers seek to have one day. Even though he was not an overnight success, he started when he was eight or nine. His mother used to go around the house rapping and because she did not make it big, she wanted to make sure her son did. He did that and more. Watch for his next album.
