Niggaz With Attitude or N.W.A is a famous hip-hop group, which formed in California in 1986. The group was together for four years in that time they were the only group to gain such huge success without any airtime or other type if promoting. As a matter of fact, they were banned from many of the radio stations and even touring.
When they released their album "Straight Outta Compton" in 1988 it led many to believe what was happening in the south central Los Angeles area and all the violence it was promoting to be true. There were three songs on the album that were best known for promoting the violence in the city. The first reflected anger in the city, "Straight Outta Compton", the second talked of police violence, "Fuck tha Police", and the third "Gangsta Gangsta' spoke of gang life. The lyrics of one was so controversial the FBI sent a letter to Ruthless Records and Priority records advising the rappers that advocating violence and assault is wrong and we in the law enforcement community take exception to such action". The police refused any security for their concerts thus hurting their touring hopes. The letter only drew more attention to the group. This album was one of the first to prompt the parental advisory label.
Eventually N.W.A. ended with Dr. Dre beginning his solo career. Therefore, each member went onto different career paths. In 1998, Capital Records and Ruthless records released "The N.W.A. Legacy, Vol 1: 1988-1998" with only three songs from the original N.W.A. group and the remaining was from all the members separately. It was so popular they released a "N.W.A. Vol 2" two years later. The members of N.W.A. changed over the years with different members being added.
Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Dr. dre, Arabian Prince, DJ Yella & MC Ren
