Tiësto's ignited his career after his incandescent setting at the first ID&T Innercity party, the largest dance event in The Netherlands held at the Amsterdam Arena, with around 40,000 people participating in early 2000.

"Tiësto Solo" confirmed his ability as a DJ thru a six-hour event in which he performed without any other DJ’s helping or opening his act. One single DJ playing alone to a large crowd was an innovative that took Tiësto to the pinnacle of fame when he held a solo concert in 2003, performing for over 25,000 people at the Arnhem's Gelredome Stadium in south Netherlands.

Between 2003 and 2004, Tiësto repeated his successful performance at "Tiësto in Concert" at the same gig, and repeating this act for a crowd of about 20,000 in Hasselt, Belgium, both of these performances were later released on DVD.

Even though, the beginning of his breakthrough into the mainstream is marked by his participation at 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, being the first DJ attending such an event of this nature. Later, "Tiësto in Concert" hit the United States, playing at Los Angeles Sports Arena in California in August 2005.

Tiësto repeated his successful trance formula performing onwards at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. That year, hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and Miami, postponing Tiësto four-city American tour, but eventually returning and then continued playing at a number of countries around the world.

In 2007, Tiësto began to air his own weekly two-hour radio show, "Tiësto's Club Life", on Radio 538. XM, a commercial radio station in The Netherlands, and continued touring around the world.
