Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones who is also very well known as Nas is the son of jazz musician Olu Dara. Nas came from Queens Bridge in the housing projects of New York. Nas got his career popping with his album "Illmatic". This album showed off a lot of Nas's great profound lyricists today. He then went on to release three other albums including "It Was Written", "I am" and Nastradamus. During that time he started getting a lot of bad creditability with critics. However, this did not stop him, he went on to release his album "Stillmatic" which restored Nas's creditability with his fans and the critics. This album was said to be one of Nas's best albums since "Illmatic". Since that big success, Nas went on to release his next three albums "Gods Son" which hit #12 on the billboard charts, "Street's Disciple" went certified platinum and then on to his latest album he just released "Hip Hop Is Dead", which was one of his 3 albums that went straight to number #1. Between the years of 1992 to 2007, Nas has released 30 singles from all his albums.
Nas has worked with a number of many different artists including Foxy Brown, Mobb Deep, R. Kelly, Lauryn Hill, DMX, Method Man, Sean "Puffy" Combs, and Ginuwine. He has also acted with artists such films as "Belly" with DMX and Method Man.
Nas has been said to be one of the greatest rappers of all time. Slick Rick has said that Nas shows emotion and speaks positively on kids and women. Slick Rick has also said that Nas is like another Tupac. Nas believes that hearing this from Slick Rick is an accomplish by itself.
