ll cool j

James Todd Smith III born on January 14, 1968 is an American Hip Hop artist and famous actor. Who is he? We all know him as the fantastic LL Cool J, which stands for Ladies Luv Cool James. Many of us first saw him on the sitcom "In the House", but did not have any idea what type of career he had.

Growing up he was an only child, sang in the church choir, and was a Boy Scout. His life growing up was a violent one with his parents, who would often fight in front of him, which escalated in 1972 when his father shot his mother as she was running to safety to her parent's house and her father was shot in the tragedy.

Thank God, they both survived. His mother later met another man who continued the violent path and did not stop with the mother but also abused LL. This is when he started to wear hats excessively. LL found the only way to deal with all the hardships was through his music. By 11 years old, he was rapping and by age 12, he had his first recording.

His singing career was off and running and he just kept getting better and better. His songs and albums were selling like wildfire and then he started to act as well. He starred in "Toys", "Dark Blue Sea", "Halloween H2O", "Any Given Sunday", plus his 5 seasons on "In The house". He now has a show pilot to premier on CBS called, "The Man in 2007".

Besides his singing career and acting, he has his own recording label and has produced a line of clothing known as Todd James. Now, he is a New York Times best selling author of the workout book Platinum WorkOut. He has always been in shape and worried about what he eats, but now this book has put him in better shape then before. Is there nothing this man will not do?

Besides all of the above accomplishments, the one thing he is most proud of is being a proud parent and loving husband!
