john mayer

John Mayer was born on October 16, 1977 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He went to Berkley College of Music where he refined his skills and then moved to Georgia with fans already following his career. John started tinkering with different instruments, received a cassette featuring the blues sound and fell in love.

In 1999, he released his first of many albums, called "Rooms for Squares." He signed with Columbia records in 2005. He won his first Grammy award in 2003 for "Best pop vocal performance". In 2005, he formed John Mayer Trio and got more into the blues genre. You can hear it on his fourth album, Continuum. John has become a very well known and respected guitar player. To date, he has sold 8 million albums and won three Grammy's. He was quoted as saying, "I got successful, I got happy, I got everything I've ever needed, at a very young age," continuing; "Now it's about not losing it and not losing is so much less exciting than trying to get it."

Esquire's June 2004 issue was the start of a column called, "Music Lessons with John Mayer." This column featured a lesson that included his ideas on different topics from his business side or personal side. Then in August 2005, they invited the readers to create music to orphaned lyrics he had written. In the January issue, they announced that Tim Fagan of Los Angeles won. He has started up a clothing line called JMltd. Just something small for now because he is interested in designing and only avaiable at his shows. He hopes to get it online in the next year.
