Slick Rick was born January 14, 1965 and named Richard Walters and Doug E Fresh was born September 17, 1966 and named Douglas E. Davis. Both are American rappers who came together in 1985 with the single by Doug E. Fresh called "The Show/La Di Da Di" and had The Get fresh Crew featured that included MC Ricky D. who later would become famous as Slick Rick. They went their separate ways and Doug E. Fresh recorded "Oh, My God" in 1986, "The World's Greatest Entertainer" in 1988, "Doin' What I Gotta Do" in 1992, "Play" in 1995, and "Alright" in 1996. Doug E. Fresh's original records are selling for very high prices because they are now out of circulation and will not be released on compact discs.

Doug E. Fresh is a Scientologist and has performed for large groups at the annual "Scientology Celebrity Centre Gala." The Scientology music album "The Joy of creating" has a couple of songs he recorded for them along with Isaac Hayes and Chick Corea.

Slick Rick made his first album titled "The Greatest Adventures of Slick Rick" in 1988. It was also featured on the True Crime: New York City soundtrack. The song "Children's Story" off the album is one of the most famous rap songs and was featured on the videogame Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. This album went Platinum, but Slick Rick could not promote this album because he was arrested for an attempted murder charge. He shot a bystander and his cousin. The head of Def Jam records, Russell Simmons was the man who bailed him out and Rick recorded "The Ruler's Back", before serving five years in prison. Then, while in prison, he recorded "Behind Bars", which did not do to well in sales. He was not released until 1998, but he remained under the def jam label and recorded "The Art of Storytelling".

As of today he is waiting to see if he will be deported because he is a British Citizen and in this country illegally since he was a youth. He has been in and out of court for this since 2002.
