Robyn Rihanna Fenty who just simply goes by Rihanna is a Bajan singer, but also mixes it up with pop, hip-hop and R&B with her music. A copy of her music went to rapper Jay Z and he signed her to Def Jam records.
She released her first album in 2005 entitled "Music of the Sun". Her first single of the album was "Pon De Replay". This song went to number 2 on the charts. The second single was "If It's Lovin You Want". This song came in at number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. This album sold 500,000 copies in the US alone, but with worldwide sales, the album sold over 2 million copies. Her next album was released so shortly after this one that there were not any more singles released.
Rihanna's second album "A Girl like Me" was released in 2006. The lead off single on this album was "S.O.S.", which was also the song for Rihanna's Nike ad she did as well. The second single from the album was a ballad called "Unfaithful". This song was written by R&B artist Ne-Yo. This song was simply her singing about cheating on her boyfriend and the guilt she felt about doing it. This was yet another top ten hit for Rihanna. Her third single "We Ride" didn't do as good as her other singles on the charts. Her last single from the album was called "Break It Off" which featured Sean Paul in the song.
Rihanna also made a cameo appearance in the movie "Bring It On: All or Nothing". She has played small parts on the shows as herself such as "Las Vegas" on NBC and the soap opera "All My Children."
Rihanna is currently working on her new album "Good Girl Gone Bad", which is set to be released in June, 2007. She has already released her first single "Umbrella" from the album which she released back in March of 2007. She is working on this album with the likes of Ne-Yo, will.i.am, Timbaland, and also Jay Z. This is looking to be another hit record for Rihanna again.
