Shiny Toy Guns is considered an American Alternative band even though they are spread across various genre’s including Electronica, New Wave, Indie, Rock, and Synthpop. The band was formed by Jeremy Dawson (bass and keyboard) in 2002 along with Chad Petree (guitar). They met while growing up in Shawnee, Oklahoma and had previous experience working on such music projects as Slyder and Cloud2Ground.
Shortly after working on these projects the two went underground for about two years but still created music with Carah Faye Charnow (vocals) and Mikey Martin (drummer) in 2004. The group found fame through their MySpace website but only locally in California where the group was formed.
In 2005, they released their first album “We Are Pilotsâ€. After the release they began touring for the summer to promote their new album. The album was re-released in November of 2005 with a revised track list. They stayed on tour and finally signed with Universal Records in June of 2006. the final version of We Are Pilots was released under the new label in October of 2006.
As of this writing, Shiny Toy Guns is touring America and Canada to promote their newest release. You may get to see them in action either on tour or in their new music video for the song “Rainy Monday†which was shot on June 28, 2007 in Brooklyn, New York.
