Benjamin Burley and Jeremy Hummel formed the band in 1998. They were from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The name comes from him dropping a mic early on and some one said “Thanks to Benjamin for breaking my micâ€. They had a huge following right from the beginning when they began playing together. In 2000, two more joined the band, which are Aaron Fink and Mark Klepaski.
They signed with Hollywood records in 2001 and released their self-titled album. 2000 copies were sold of the album and this was all that were made. After this they released Staurate on August 27, 2002 and the single off that titled, “Poloamorousâ€. This single failed for the band. The band released two separate videos in which one included footage of the video game “Run Like Hell.†This still did not give them as much success as they wanted, but they sold over 300,000 copies.
In 2004, they released “We Are Not Alone†their second album. The single from this album, “So Cold†reached number two on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart. The success of this made the album go platinum.
In 2006, they went on tour with Godsmack for the IV Tour. The band announced they would be headlining for Three Days Grace and Nickelback after the IV Tour. Their concert in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania at the Stabler arena was a one-hour show to be shown on HDNet on March 4, 2007. They performed the premier of “Breathâ€, their single from the next album, “Phobiaâ€.
Then in April of 2007, they released album number three titled, “Phobiaâ€. A DVD of the concert from Stabler was also included.
In June of 2007, the band were guests on The Jay leno Show where they performed “Breathâ€, then again on The Craig Ferguson Show in July of 2007.
Due to an illness, they had to cancel some dates and it was rumored that the band was breaking up. This was far from the truth because the band announced a 36-date fall 2007 tour with Three Days Grace, Seether, Skillet, and Red.
