His birth name is Michael Steven Buble and he was born on September 9, 1975 in Burnaby, British Columbia. He grew up listening to jazz from his grandfather’s collection and soon came to love it. Michael listens to rock and roll and other modern music, however, jazz is his first love. He made the decision to become a singer and with the encouragement of his grandfather, he entered a talent contest in Vancouver. He won the talent contest hands down, but was disqualified for being too young. This never stopped him. He went on to win first prize in a Canadian youth talent search when he was seventeen.
Michael went on the next few years going after his dream and he found success doing a theatre performance of Elvis in Red Rock Diner road show. He made three albums one of which was for his grandfather.
He received two Genie Award nominations in 2000 for both songs he wrote for the film “Here’s to Life†starring Eric McCormack.
Michael’s big break came when Michael McSweeney saw him and being a friend of the Prime Minister of Canada gave him an album that Buble gave to him. After this he was asked to perform for Mulroney’s daughters wedding. This is where he was introduced to David Foster, the Grammy award-winning producer. Foster signed him to his ‘143’ label and he went on to make his self-titled album, “Michael Buble†in 2000.
He went on to make two more albums and they were, “Its Time†in 2005 and “Call Me Irresponsible†in 2007.
Michael has gone on to win 12 awards and performed on American Idol in a last minute replacement for Tony Bennett. His manager is Bruce Allen who also manages Martina McBride and Bryan Adams.
Buble was engaged to Debbie Timuss an actress and dancer who starred with him on the red rock Diner Road show. They became engaged in 2004, but they ended their relationship in November of 2005. In 2005, on an appearance on the Logie Awards show he met Emily Blunt. They have started dating and he jokes that she is becoming famous faster than he is. She is a British Actress.
