Shawn Corey Carter, also known to everyone as Jay-Z is the president and CEO of Def Jam and Roc-a-fella records. Jay-Z is also part owner of the New Jersey Nets basketball team. Above all of this he is one of the most well known rappers in the rap industry. He has top selling albums including "The Blue Print" and "Kingdom Come". He also has his own clothing line Rocawear, which has had a retail sale of 700 million dollars. If you visit the NY Club 40/40 you are visiting a club in which he is part owner with future plans to build other 40/40 clubs in LA, Las Vegas, and Singapore. Jay-Z has really done it all. Most rappers today, are not only rapping, but extending their fame to other places, even ringtones.
Jay-Z has worked with so many artists it is hard to list them all. He has worked with Beyonce from Destiny's Child and they are a hot item. They were listed as the Power Couple in Time Magazine's 100's Most Influential People of 2006. There relationship has lasted over four years now and no end is in sight. They tend to keep their relationship private and so far it has seemed to be the ticket to keep it out of the public eye.
Jay-Z did a retirement concert saying he was retiring and all proceeds went to charity. It was very hard to find any tickets left for this concert shortly after it was announced. Many different artists performed some of their songs for the concert. Jay-Z said he wanted to make his fans think he was retiring, so when he does put out another album, everyone will be pumped up to go out and by it. So Jay-Z will be back in full force before you know it.
