Country music singer Willie Hugh Nelson was born on April 30, 1933 in Abbott, Texas and was introduced to music by his grandparents, who paid for mail-order music lessons for a grandson that was only 6 years old.

Willie Nelson learned to play guitar and joined the Bohemian Fiddlers and Air Force band during his teen years. Eventually, he became a the DJ of a country music radio station in Fort Worth while singing at local honky tonk bars.

However, Willie Nelson's career began when he relocated to Vancouver, Washington and recorded "Lumberjack". Although, this single achieved financial success, Nelson did not succeed as a singer who began to write songs full time after moving to Nashville and later to Austin.

In 1960, Willie Nelson sold a song "Family Bible" that marked the beginning of a successful career as songwriter throughout the decade, but he only gained recognition as singer superstar when Waylon Jennings introduced him to the outlaw country movement of the '70s.

Willie Nelson began his breakthrough into the mainstream with the songs “The Red Headed Stranger” and "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain that in 1975 launched him to stardom. Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson worked together on many projects, recording albums, and touring around the country.

Willie's music combines rock & roll, country and western, folk, jazz, blues, honky tonk, and traditional pop that along with his particular voice color have provided him with an unmistakable seal.

Willie Nelson is nowadays one of the greatest American entertainers and he has also developed an acting career since the early 1980’s in movies such as The Electric Horseman, Honeysuckle Rose, Thief, Barbarosa, Red-Headed Stranger and in 2005 The Dukes of Hazzard film. He has also been the guest on TV shows including The Simpson’s, Miami Vice, King of Hill, and others.

Nelson's discography includes dozens of recording scattered through different records labels, but he has no less than 50 albums released between 1971 and 2007, many of which reached number one on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

In 2007, Willie Nelson has been scheduled to play at the "Big State Festival" and he announced a forthcoming new album in 2008.
