The Fray is an Indie piano rock band that was formed in 2002 in Denver, Colorado by fellow school friends Isaac Slade (vocals & piano) and Joe King (guitar & vocals) after they met up again at their local music store.
The Fray began their career as a two-man band performing in jam sessions that mixed alternative and piano rock with the most authentic Indie rock of the time. During this period the band rounded their lineup with the addition of Dave Welsh (guitars) and Ben Wysocki (drums), playing then in small gigs around the Denver area.
The band released two demos, "Movement" (2002) and "Reason" (2003) that became a Denver's radio favorite and led The Fray to be voted Best New Band by Denver's Westword Magazine.
This distinction brought the attention of Epic Records, which signed the band in 2004. The Fray debut album, "How to Save a Life" was released in September 2005, which hit number 3 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
"How to Save a Life" turned certified double platinum and the single song "Over My Head (Cable Car)" hit the top ten in the USA, UK, Canada, Ireland, Sweden and Australia.
The Fray's next full-length album, "Live at the Electric Factory" was released in 2006 along with a Christmas single to iTunes, the live cover of "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)†a John Lennon, and Yoko Ono's original.
Isaac Slade and Joe King are the leading force behind the Fray, a band whose lineup has included Dave Welsh, Ben Wysocki, and Jimmy Stofer along with former members Caleb Slade, Dan Battenhouse, Zach Johnson, and Dave Hedin.
Early 2007 Epic Records announce that "How to Save a Life" had sold over 2,000,000 copies in the USA alone. This success motivated the company to re-release the band's EP "Reason" scheduled for October 16, 2007
Actually, The Fray is working on a non-profit environmental organization, and along with Reverb they went on summer tour supporting this cause. At the time, several live concert videos have been released through YouTube as well as a bootleg live album recorded during a tour in late 2006 and only available online.
