Canadian singer, songwriter, and guitarist Bryan Adams was born on November 5, 1959 in Kingston, Ontario. Son to English diplomat parents with Maltese ancestry. Bryan spent his early years traveling to England, France, Portugal, Austria, and Israel, but returning periodically to Ottawa until his parents relocated to Victoria, British Columbia.
Bryan Adams began his music career at age 15, but it was not until he met drummer Jim Vallance and together co-wrote several songs including a demo tape in 1978 when the duo were signed with Irving-Almo Music, a Canadian subsidiary of A&M Records.
With this contract in a hand, Bryan Adams negotiated another as a solo artist with RCA Records; however, A&M records extended him such contract, releasing the single "Let Me Take You Dancing" in 1979.
This song not only was produced as a 12" single remix version, but also peaked number 22 on the Dance Chart, remaining there for 23 weeks, and selling over 240,000 copies worldwide.
Meanwhile, Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance placed songs with several artists including Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO), Prism, and Ian Lloyd, among others.
On February 1980, Bryan Adams' self-titled album was released with the song "Hiding from Love" issued as a single that hit number 43 on the Dance Chart. Bryan Adams went on a local tour in May 1980, returning to release his second album "You Want It, You Got It" in the summer 1981.
Bryan hit the charts once again, but it was not until the release of the following albums, "Cuts Like a Knife" (1983) and "Reckless" (1984), that he topped the USA and UK charts, making this and every new release multi-platinum productions.
From his debut album to the present, Bryan Adams has released 15 albums, including "Anthology", an album issued in 2005 that compiles his greatest hits. There is a forthcoming album scheduled to be released sometime in 2008.
However, Bryan Adams remains active writing song, producing records, collaborating with soundtrack songs, and showcasing his talent as photographer, whose work has been published in Vanity Fair, Jane, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, i-D, Interview magazine, and the German Zoo Magazine, among several others.
