panic! at the disco

Panic! At The Disco is from Las Vegas and they have a style unique in that it is a combination of pop, big beat, electronic, and rock. Longtime friends Ryan Ross and Spencer Smith formed the band. They have played together since age 13. They asked Brent Wilson and Brendon Urie to join them, which we know they did. They have been known to bring out contortionists and dancers for an old-style circus show during their stage performances.

They contacted Peter Wentz to promote their music in which they sent a link to their Pure Volume website. After this, Peter Wentz went to Las Vegas to meet the band because he was so impressed.

Wilson left the band in May of 2006 without announcing a reason even though later on he was telling everyone he was kicked out. They now have a war going on in which he has said he wants a cut of the royalties for his part on the album. He has stated if they do not come up with an agreement he will take them to court.

Panic! At The Disco was on MTV's TRL on January 17, 2006 where their music video for "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" was premiered. The album is now #13 on Billboard 200 as of July 2006. The video on YouTube has been streamed more than 5 million times. In addition, it is the most requested on Z-100 out of New York. Their second video, "But It's Better If You Do", debuted at #23. Then in July, they released their third video, "Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without taking her Clothes Off."

The band started a world tour in 2006 including Australia, New Zealand, and the continental Europe. They started their first stadium tour on November 7, 2006 with Bloc Party and Jack Mannequin. The band has appeared with Fall Out Boy and Marilyn Manson on a special edition of Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas, This Is Halloween" and it was released in 3D on October 20. They have now started to make their second album due out in Mid-2007.

Panic! At the Disco released only 25,000 limited edition collector sets, which contain a DVD of their live concert in Denver and a CD of "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out". It also includes some pictures of the band, a blank diary you can write in, a poster of the band, a tour program, a phenakistoscope, and a certificate of authenticity.
