Melissa Arnette Elliott known to her fans as Missy Elliott was born on July 1st, 1971. Missy is known for her rapping, producing, singing and as a songwriter. Missy has been doing her thing since 1996 and she is still going strong to this day. With selling over 24 million albums which makes Missy the top selling female rapper around.
Missy has worked with all of the best rappers and singers on her albums such as the late Aaliyah, Sean "Puffy" Combs's, Lil' Kim, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, Jay-Z, and many more to follow.
Missy's career really began for her in 2000. She had a great start beforehand, but it really kicked into high gear starting in 2000. She released her first album of 2000 entitled "Miss E So Addictive". She came out with great hits off the album like "Get Ur Freak On" and "One Minute Man" that featured Ludacris and Trina. Missy released a double video for her 2 songs "Take Away/4 My People" shortly after 911 and the death of her close friend Aaliyah. The video contained words and pictures of Aaliyah in her memory.
In 2002, Missy released "Under Construction". This album produced hits such as "Work It", which is one her biggest hit to this day in which she had Ludacris make it an even hotter song and her other hit from the album "Gossip Folks". During the release of the album, Missy lost a lot of weight which had rumors flying.
Missy has released many more albums as well including "This Is Not a Test!", "The Cookbook" and "Respect M.E." which is her greatest hits album. She is on her way to making even big more hits such as the movie about Missy's life story. It is not said for sure if Missy will be starring in the movie, but one sure thing is that Timbaland won't be in the movie with her. There is no set date when the movie will be released.
Missy has been in other movies such as "Honey", "Just for Kicks", "Shark Tale" and "Fade to Black". She also appeared as herself on the TV show "Family Matters". Missy has done it all and is still going.
