Lonnie Rashid Lynn Jr. was born in 1972 on March 13 in Chicago, Illinois. To his fans, he goes by the name Common. Common is a hip-hop artist that makes music of spirituality, poverty, and other social issues that he believes need to be heard.

Common started with his debut album in 1992 entitled “Can I Borrow a Dollar”. This album did not do the best, but it did get the Chicago rapper noticed. He released “Take it EZ”, “Breaker 1/9” and “Soul by the Pound”.

Common then went on to release his second album “Resurrection” in 1994. He released the songs “Resurrection” and “I Used to Love HER”. The second single got a great deal of play back.

In 1997, Common released his third album entitled “One Day It’ll All Make Sense”. Singles released from the album was “Retrospect for Life”, All Night Long and “Reminding Me” from the album. He had guest appearances from artists like Canibus, Q-Tip, Erykah Badu, Cee Lo, and Lauryn Hill.

In 2000, Common went on to release his critically acclaimed album “Like Water for Chocolate”. He released the songs “The Light” and “The 6th Sense” off the album. The album went to number 5 on the Top R&B and hip-hop charts and went to number 16 on the Billboard 200 charts.

Common kept it going with his fifth album “Electric Circus” in 2002. He released the song “Come Close” and then went on to release a remix version of the single. The album itself went to number 47 on the Billboard 200 and the song went to number 65 on the Billboard 100. The album went to number 9 on the R&B and Hip Hop charts and the single went to number 21 on the same chart, as well.

In 2005, Common released yet another album called “Be”. He had the help of Kanya West on producing this album. He released the songs “Go”, “Testify”, and “The Corner” off the album. The album went to number 1 on the R&B and Hip Hop Top Albums Chart.

Common’s latest album “Finding Forever” was just released in the early part of 2007. The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200. So far, the only single released is entitled “The People”. Common has been doing his thing for years and from the looks of it, he is not stopping at all.
