
Destiny's Child was a popular Rhythm & Blues trio in the late 1990’s that was formed in 1997 in Houston Texas, although their members, Kelly Rowland, Beyoncé Knowles, and Michelle Williams, had an earlier musical formation.
Formed originally as a quartet, Destiny's Child recorded the song "Killing Time," that was part of the soundtrack for the movie "Men in Black". In 1997, their self-titled debut album was released early in 1998 producing their first single hit, the song "No, No, No" that had two other album versions, "No, No, No Part 1" and "No, No, No Part 2", bringing mixed reviews from music critics.
Destiny's Child recorded a second album as a quartet, "The Writing's on the Wall" released in 1999, from which the new song cut to be released as single, "Bills, Bills, Bills", went number one on Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the R&B chart.
"Bug-a-Boo", the second single from the second album peaked at the Top 40 pop charts, and Destiny's Child began to be rotated on BET and MTV and BET, embarking the girls into an international tour.
During their 1990s' era, the band suffered several lineup changes until 2000 left the band as a trio. Destiny's Child recorded three more studio albums, "Survivor" (2001), "8 Days of Christmas" (2001) and "Destiny Fulfilled" (2004), that certainly fulfilled the destiny of the band.
On June 12, 2005, Destiny's Child announced that they would no longer be performing together after completed their tour with the last stopover in Barcelona, but remaining active pursuing their individual careers in music, television, theatre, and movies.
Destiny's Child is nowadays considered one of the best selling female groups of all time and eventually Billboard would rank the band as one of the greatest musical trios of all time. The last tour as trio, Destiny Fulfilled… and Lovin' it Tour" was sponsored by McDonald's.
The band won three Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards in 1998 and 16 different awards in 2000 by the Billboard Music Awards, NAACP Image Awards, Artist Direct (ADOMA) Awards, Artist Direct (ADOMA) Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, and Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards again.
