While in college at the University of Mobile, Mike Weaver, Jay Weaver, Jeremy Redmon, Jeff Jones, and Joe Shirk put together this band. Mike had a lot of urging from his pastor to study voice so he did. The group starting making music together and their first album “Neighborhoods” was released by Fervent records.

Their next album in 2002 titled, “One and Only”, made it to the top five in which the group received a Dove award nomination for New Artist of the Year. After this Big Daddy Weave released ”Fields of Grace” and even while Hurricane Ivan was ravaging their homes in Alabama they created the hit “What I Was Made For”.

Mike began having a hard time writing, as he did not know why he could not hear God as he once did. Many Christians go through this during their lifetimes, however, the group soon realized God had not left, he was there but steering them in a new direction. The way in which their ministry was headed was changing and the group knew that they could minister by their actions, as well as their music while worship God through their music.

Their next album all but named itself; “Every Time I Breathe” just came to them as if God was speaking to them. You do not think about breathing, you just do it. That is how this album came to them. They just wrote the song without any problems. It has stayed at number one for a few weeks now.

In May of 2007, Mike, Jay, and Joe all welcomed a new addition to their families. They band has taken time off to stay with their families and enjoy their new babies but they will be back in the public eye before long.

They band is now in the studios working on their next album that is said will be released in early half of 2008. So all you Big Daddy weave fans keep your eyes open and watch for it. They will be writing on their relationship with God. You can expect their next album to speak to your soul and give you quality worship music.
