Supernanny Chat

Supernanny is a reality television program shown both in the UK and the US which has been changed just a bit for each country.

Jo Frost is the super nanny that during each episode aids a family in learning to handle their uncontrollable or naughty children. She has her own unique way in observing the family and then providing ways for the parents to discipline their children while maintaining order in the home. She is known for putting more effort into praising children and giving them positive encouragement instead of punishing.

Supernanny was first aired in the UK on September 1, 2004 with the theme song "Be Good Johnny" by Men at Work. It was aired in the US in January 2005.

People write in to the show and explain their “terrible children” and the problems they are having controlling them and having harmony in their home. The various families are chosen and supernanny pays a visit. She stays with the family, learns why they are having these problems, and teaches the parents how to handle various situations by using praise and positive encouragement.

The national catchphrase in the UK brought on from the supernanny are "Naughty Step" and "Your behavior is very naughty!"

The United States loved the supernanny once it premiered in January 2005 and ratings were excellent. Jo Frost has received praise from several columnists and television critics throughout the US including Newsweek and The New York Times. She has also appeared on Live with Regis and Kelly, The Late Show with David Letterman, and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
