Although Jack Johnson could be considered one of the veterna musicians in the music scene, born Jack Hody Johnson on May 18, 1975 in North Shore Oahu, Hawaii, his breaktrhough into the maintream came after his debut album "Brushfire Fairytales" realeased in 2001.

Jack Johnson was firstly known as a surfer and skater, then filmmaker and musician. It was Alex Conell, his father's best friend, who taught him surfing and skating, but also how to play guitar when Jack was only 13.

Although eventually, Jack Johnson became a professional surfer and won a championship under the sponsorship of Quicksilver, he suffered an accident at Pipeline, a Hawaiian surf reef break situated off the Ehukai Beach Park.

After receiving more than 150 stitches to his forehead and mouth, he spent the next several months recovering in bed playing guitar and writing songs. Even though, he was not interested in music until he began taking classes at the University of California.

Jack's college years at Santa Barbara led him to meet his wife Kim, and their son Moe was born in 2004. During those years he only played rhythm guitar. he did graduate from the University of California with a degree in film.

Jack Johnson produced with fellow friends Emmett Malloy and Chris Malloy a surf cinema documentary, "Thicker Than Water", that revealed his potential as a talented cinematographer. In 2000, "Thicker than Water" was proposed as Video of the Year by Surfer magazine and also earned the ESPN Film Festival 's Adobe Highlight Award the same year.

It was not until he recorded "Rodeo Clowns" by the side of Garrett Dutton that Jack Johnson fully stepped into music. The song was released by Dutton's band G. Love & Special Sauce's Philadelphonic album that was the angular recording to start his full-length 2003 album, "On and On".

Today, Jack Johnson's discography is made up of the albums "Brushfire Fairytales" (2001), "On and On" (2003), "In Between Dreams" (2005), "Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies" (2006, released for the Film Curious George), and "Sleeping Through The Static" to be released in early 2008.

Other contributions include numerous EPs, soundtrack cuts, virtual albums and DVDs such as "Out Cold" "September Sessions", "Jack Johson's iTunes Originals", "Some Live Songs", "Sprout" and "A Brokedown Melody".
