Her and her sister Haylie have been cast in many television commercials. They both performed in the Nutcracker Suite. Many of her roles were small parts but still credited to her early success. She was in "True Women, Playing by Heart". Her first major part was playing Wendy in "Casper". Her first serious role was when she was cast as one of the kids in a NBC Sitcom "Daddio" in 2000. Then she was dropped from the cast before it aired because she was hesitant to continue acting. Her mom and manager coaxed her on and a week later, she was cast for Lizzie McGuire. This show was an instant hit for the Disney channel with 2.3 million viewers per episode. This show made her very popular with the young girls between 7 and 14. Then while she was filming Lizzie, she also was offered the role of Cadet Kelly in 2002. In 2003, she starred in "Agent Cody Banks" which received such positive reviews they made a sequel but Hilary was not in that one. She then made "Lizzie McGuire, the Movie", which exceeded all expectations. Then she starred in "Cheaper by the Dozen" and this was her highest grossing film. Then in 2005, she was in the sequel "Cheaper by the Dozen 2", but that was not as big a hit. Her next film was "A Cinderella Story" and then "Raise Your Voice" which was cut to pieces by the critics. She went on to star in "The Perfect Man", which again was a disappointment as was "Material Girl". So now, everyone is waiting to see how she does in her next two films, "Foodfight" in early 2007 release and "War, Inc" a later 2007 release. Her latest album called Dignity was released in April 2007.
She has now gone into singing and has had three platinum albums and sold over 13 million. She has even come out with a clothing line called Stuff By Hilary and a perfume line exclusive with Elizabeth Arden.
