Ann Lennox was born on 25 December 1954 in Aberdeen, Scotland. She is identified for her work as part of the duo Eurythmics, that split up in 1991 leaving her with a solo career that rivaled with her former background by blending pop, soul, and rock with her unique voice and feeling.

Annie Lennox attended Aberdeen High School for Girls (Today's Harlaw Academy) where she learned the basics of classical music before studying flute at the Royal Academy of Music in London, while working as a waitress and barmaid to pay for her lessons.

Eventually in 2006, the London Royal Academy named her honorary Fellow. She was also made a Fellow of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and finally became patron of the Master's Course in Humanitarian and Development Practice for Oxford Brookes University.

Annie Lennox began her music career playing with The Tourist, a band from which she jumped to Eurythmics and then retiring for two years, time in which she focused her mind on having children after a stillborn child in 1988.

Annie released her debut solo album "Diva" in 1992, selling over 2 million copies in the United States and was nominated for three Grammy Awards, at a time that music critics found Annie Lennox at the best time for her voice and musical accomplishment.

"Diva" was RIAA certified 4x Platinum in the USA and 3x Platinum in the UK, marking a return to stage. Annie Lennox toured intensively the next few years until the recording of a second studio album, "Medusa", that went 2x Platinum in 1995.

Annie Lennox did not release a new album, "Bare" until 2003, and although a new recording has announced to be released during 2007, "Songs of Mass Destruction", will be accompanied by a tour throughout North America before the end of the year.

As solo artist Annie Lennox has sold over 78 million albums, won numerous awards and she was also featured in VHI among the 100 Greatest Women of Rock and Roll in 1999.

Annie Lennox has remained an active humanitarian supporting both Amnesty International and Greenpeace, and she performed a song for the reality show "American Idol", Idol Gives Back fund raising drive in 2007.
