leann rimes

Born on August 28, 1982 in Jackson, Mississippi; she was given the name Margaret Leann Rimes. Releasing her debut single, “Blue” when she was only 13 she rose to stardom as a country singer.

At the tender age of 24, Leann has won an American Music Award, two Grammy’s, 3 Academy of Country Music awards and 12 Billboard Music awards. However, the most important accomplishment is she is the youngest to win a Grammy for her version of “How Do I Live Without You”. This song is also the longest charting song still holding it’s own at 69 weeks!

However, before all this started she moved to Texas with her family and was singing at the age of eleven when she released her first album titled, “Everybody’s Sweetheart” on a small town label. It wasn’t long before the big boys heard it and wanted to sign her quickly. She continued with the different labels and slowly rose, but it wasn’t until 1995 after moving to Garland, Texas she signed with Curb records and released “Blue”! This sold 8 million copies, 123,000 during its first week.

In 1997, Leann released two albums. The First one was called “Unchained Melody: The Early Years”. This album went two times platinum. The second album she released was “You Light up my Life: Inspirational Songs”. This album went four times platinum.

In 1998, Leann released her album “Sitting on Top of the World” and in 1999, she released another album “LeAnn Rimes”. Both albums went platinum.

In 2003, Leann released a Greatest Hits album. This album featured all her top hits and the album went platinum. In 2004, Leann went on to release two albums. The first one was the “Best of Leann Rimes”. The second album was “What a wonderful World”. It is not said how well the albums did. In 2005, Leann released her album “This Woman”. This album gave Leann a more adult or grown up take on her music. The album went gold. In 2006, Leann released the album “Whatever We Wanna”.

Now in 2007, she has released her 12th studio album called “Family”. Her first single from the album is called “Nothing Better to Do”.

With a beginning at such a young age, Leann has hit it big with her 12th studio album and much more to come.
