Trading Spouses is a reality television show broadcast on the Fox network. The show premiered on July 1, 2004 and is in its third season. Trading Spouses is also referred to as Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy.
The show is all about two families in which the mother trades places with another mother for an entire week. Yes, she lives behind her family and is thrown into a totally different family to see how each one will fare in a different environment. In most cases, the women are placed in different social classes.
This may sound like an easy feat, however, take the time to watch an episode and you will be hooked. Take a mother that never cooks, goes to the spa, has 2 kids involved in sports, and believes she has no time to herself and place her on a working farm with 5 kids all working on the farm and place the farm mom in the other situation. When moms like these change places the outcome can be devastating for both. The mom that has worked on the farm every day now has nothing to do most of the day, while the other mom has to pitch in around the farm, cook meals for the family, and really has no time to herself.
At the end of the week, each family receives $50,000, however, the catch is, the mom that trading spouses chooses how the money should be spent. During the week, the new mom evaluates the best way in which the money will help the other family and then writes it all in a letter as to the exact way the money is to be spent.
