XtreemConneX provides the following options for connecting and chatting with other XtreemConneX members:

1. Chat Room
2. Private Messages (PM)
3. Instant Messages to friends (IM) - "Chat" bar at the bottom of the screen
4. Profile page comments
5. Mentioning usernames in status updates: XtreemConneX allows users to "mention" other members usernames within status updates. To mention a username in your status update, add a @ symbol in-front of the username. The user of the username you mention, will receive a notification that you mentioned them in your status update and they will be able to read that status update. Example status update with a mention: "Chatting with @username right now, we are thinking about going out for coffee since it's such a nice day."

You can make new friends by using the search box on your account home page or by clicking 'Search Members' in the main horizontal navigation. You can get to your account home page by clicking the 'My Profile' link in the main horizontal navigation.

By default, all XtreemConneX members show up in the "member search", but their are things you can do to be found easier.

1. Login to XtremConneX often: The 'member search' results are ordered by last login, the latest being at the top.
2. Fill out ALL your profile details: Doing this will allow people with similar interests to find you.
3. Tag your status updates: Tagging your status updates will help people find you in the 'status update search'. You can 'tag' your status updates by adding a number sign (#) in-front of a word that categorizes your status. Example status update with tags: "Wow it's so nice out today! I think I'm going to go for a nice long walk. #weather #exercise"

Status updates are a way to quickly communicate, share and update other XtreemConneX members on what your currently doing and what's happening around the world. An example status update could be: "I just got home from work and I'm ready to start the weekend! Going out with a few friends for drinks tonight, it should be fun."

You can send another member a private message by going to their profile and clicking 'Send a Message' in the left column.

You can add someone to your friends list by going to their profile and clicking 'Become Friends' in the left column.

You can remove someone from your friends list by going to their profile and clicking 'Leave Friend List' in the left column.

You can report another member by going to their profile and clicking 'Report User' in the left column.

Please only report a user if:
The user has added offensive content or spam to their profile.
The user offered you a service in exchange for money or tried sending you to another website.

You can block another member from viewing your profile and contacting you by going to their profile and clicking 'Block User' in the left column.

You can upload photos to your profile by going to your photo gallery and using the photo upload form.

You can invite your friends to XtreemConneX by following the steps outlined on the invite page

By default email addresses are removed from private messages and comments in an attempt to prevent spam. If you meet someone on XtreemConneX and would like to take the next step by communicating via email, you can ask to request their email when replying to their private message. When replying to a private message check the check box after "Request users email address?:" before you hit submit. The recipient will then be asked to approve or deny your request, if they accept your request their email will be sent to you via private message.

You can delete your profile / account in your account settings.

You can delete your photo by going to your photo album, clicking on the photo thumbnail you want to delete and clicking the 'Delete Photo' link above the photo.

You can logout of your account on the 'My Home' page, the logout link is next to your username. Alternatively you can click here to logout.

Member profiles which are reported by the community, that contain x-rated images and chats in the public's view will be deleted; what adults do in private is their business and remains private / unmonitored. Repeat offenders will be banned.

The XtreemConneX photo upload function currently only properly uploads / resizes .jpg and .jpeg photos. If you're uploading anything other than these types of photos you might experience problems.
